After successfully running four outlets, Loco Chino has introduced a range of new Tex Mex and Asian cuisine to their diverse menu. The major additions include Open Baos and Cheung Funs. They have introduced a wide range of appetisers, vegetarian and non-vegetarian Sushi as well as Tex Mex flavours. “Loco Chino draws its inspiration from both, a Tex-Mex and an Asian kitchen, and features a carefully crafted menu with an array of delicacies to get the best of east and west under one roof. Creatively summed up as an Asian Mind with a Mexican Attitude, these two different attributes not only demonstrate the innovation at Loco Chino but also determine how well and effortlessly the food is served to guests in a peppy and welcoming ambiance,” says Trimaan Chandok, owner of Loco Chino.

Rising by Aakash Odedra

After being performed 130 times in 20 countries, Rising, an evening of dance performed by accomplished Kathak dancer Aakash Odedra, is coming to Mumbai. It will feature three solos created by internationally renowned choreographers Akram Khan, Sidi Larbi Cherkaovi and Russell Maliphant to be performed by Aakash. The works call on Aakash’s background in Indian classical dances, but remain intrinsically contemporary in style. Sharon Memis, director of British Council, West India, tells us, “Aakash is one of the UK’s most celebrated young contemporary dancers with a tremendous following. FESTIVAL
Gateway LitFest

Gateway Litfest was born to bring noted and aspiring writers from different regional languages together on a single platform. After a good response last year, the festival is back for its second edition and this time the themes that echo are a focus on inter-language translation, dying Indian languages and dialects, issues concerning North-Eastern literature and regional women writers. “We have received an overwhelming response to the first edition. The need to create a powerful platform for regional literature and writers in a largely English language-dominated milieu resonated with readers and writers alike. We intend to make this a people’s movement with the inclusion of new programme formats and wider participation of regional literature lovers,” says festival director Mohan Kakkanadan. “The effort is to bring writers from different Indian languages at the national level to promote co-existence and co-growth, which is vital for preserving our national labyrinth of diversity in linguistics,” says the festival’s executive director, M Sabarinath.
