Aimed at the calorie conscious corporate crowd, Suzette & Co. is a mixed bag of hits and misses, but still a great place to order a quick, healthy lunch from, says Rhea Dhanbhoora
Those who love Suzette will be delighted to know that their new venture not only makes it easier for you to get your fill of their delicious meals, they’re also healthy! The online portal, which launched last month (called Suzette & Co.), currently only delivers to Lower Parel, but will be expanding its delivery radius soon. We thought it was worth checking out — to see if we’d be waiting with bated breath for them to expand.
If you’re looking for popular specials, you’re going to be disappointed, because not all their items are included in this very sparse online menu. However, those who are familiar with the prices will appreciate the markdowns — everything is affordable enough for a healthy lunch option.
We started with the Cold Gaspacho Soup (Rs 160), which was a predictable tomato soup, but missing the crunchy vegetable bits that we love in our gazpacho. The Spinach Sandwich (Rs 250) was up next. While the spinach, mushroom and cheese filling was delicious, the grilled sandwich bread was too tough to bite into. For those on the go, we don’t recommend their Chicken Basil Sandwich (Rs 280), purely because it’s one big block that’s very hard to eat neatly! We’d prefer it being cut up into more convenient portions, and again, while the basil and tomato heavy filling is out of this world, the bread was too chewy.
What stood out, however, was the Basilic Salad (Rs 260), with a generous sprinkling of grilled chicken, feta and sundried tomatoes, accompanied by delicious French basil vinaigrette. The Chicken Wrap (Rs 260) was also fantastic — again the grilled chicken and basil was a heady combination. All their wraps and sandwiches have calorie counts alongside, which is great for the diet conscious crowd.
The Nutella on Brioche (Rs 260) was just so-so, but the Chocolate Mousse (Rs 200), with its salted caramel and biscuit base was divine.
Fans of cash on delivery will have to remember that they currently only accept online payments, and remember to order before noon if you want your meal between 12.30 and 1.30pm!
